Hygge - Equality

Hello! Thanks for joining us for our weekly topic - Equality – “We” over “me.” Share the tasks and the airtime.   Spend quality time with family and friends. The simplest and sweetest moments of life are those that we remember and value the most. It’s about surrounding yourself with a few close friends or family members in an environment of comfort, trust, and security. I personally take advantage of any opportunity to cook or bake at home, invite a few people over and have a long dinner around the table, enjoying an array of home-cooked meals and great conversation. It must be the European roots in me that thrives in this environment.   Comfort food is a treat in...

Hygge - Pleasure

Hello!  This week we are focusing on Pleasure - Coffee, chocolate, cookies, cakes, candy. Seems simple enough. How do we incorporate these pleasures, as well as, stay present. It’s so easy to indulge in these while doing other things.    I’ve found that taking the time to bake or brew a pot of tea or make the perfect cup of hot cocoa really makes the difference when indulging. We know it’s true but when it comes to actually doing it, it’s not easy. A Lovely Year defines it beautifully “For a moment or activity to be truly hygge, everyone involved must be truly present, focusing on only what is happening at that moment. Science shows that...

Hygge - Atmosphere

Hello & welcome back! We’re starting this manifesto series off with atmosphere. Hygge is not complete without candles. Danish people have the strongest association between candles and Hygge so there’s a small likelihood that you enter a danish home without candles burning. In addition, they prefer soothing pools of light versus one prominent light fixture, i.e. a string of lights or soft bulbs. “A flickering fire can instantly make any space feel intimate. If you don't have a fireplace in your home, create that warm and cozy vibe by arranging candles of different sizes and shapes into a cluster”, Kayleigh Tanner at Hello Hygge. A few ideas on how to create this lovely atmosphere include: fairy lights, candles, limited overheard...

Welcome to the Blog!

Happy Friday! Welcome to our first Cozy with Posey blog post.   A month ago, we launched Cozy with Posey! Wow -  It has brought us immeasurable joy to curate gifts for all of you. We can’t wait to see what the future holds! We at Cozy with Posey have become infatuated with Hygge (pronounced HOO-GA). “Hygge” is a Danish word that actually has no literal translation in English but can be loosely understood as “cozy”. But, it’s not just cozy – it’s so much more. Hygge is the art of building a sanctuary and a haven in your home, connecting and spending time with your loved ones, slowing down to celebrate the little moments in every day, and creating...
