Hello! Thanks for joining us for our weekly manifesto - Harmony – It’s not a competition. We already like you. There is no need to brag about your achievements. It’s about the people and the atmosphere and all of them working together in harmony. This creates the ultimate coziness bubble.
Hygge is humble. It is about being confident enough in your own awesomeness that you don't need to brag about your successes. Hygge is caring about the harmony of the group and ensuring that everyone feels the love. - Elsa Elbert
When spending time with others, it brings a sense of warmth, relaxation, comforting. Kind of like a hug but without needing the physical aspect of a hug. When around others that you feel at home with you can be completed yourself and feel an overwhelming feeling of relaxation. Hygge is also meant to create a space where nobody dominates a conversation or takes center stage, everyone is equal and a trait deeply rooted in Danish culture.
A lovely way to spend an evening with friends, where all things are equal is hosting a pot luck. Each person contributes a dish, spends time discussing their dish but leaves room for others to discuss theirs. The best part about a potluck is that everything is already done as guests arrive and you can spend the entire evening chatting and enjoying each other’s company.
The most important social relationships are close relationships in which you experience things together with others, and experiences being understood; where you share thoughts and feelings, and both give and receive support. In one word: hygge.
